Suture Practice Kit for Medical & Veterinary Students

There is nothing that compares to real skin and flesh when it comes to suturing unfortunately, most of medical students who pursue medical education to become a physician, veterinarian, dentist, or medic have limited access to real patients in their early educational program to learn correct suture techniques to close up wounds in this situation a suture practice kit is an ideal alternative for medical students to practice suturing techniques

Medicure suture practice kit is contained with reusable silicon skin pad that replicate anatomical structure of human tissue including 3 layers, SKIN, FAT & MUSCLE to provide the best human tissue simulation. Our suture pad is designed with pre-cut wounds to make your practice more wound-driven for which you can learn different suturing techniques due to variety of pre-cut wounds. Our suture practice kit also comes with tools and filaments that you need to perform complete and advance suture techniques.

Medicure suture practice kit is professionally designed that can facilitate you to practice suturing techniques at home and make it easy for you to excel in your medical educational program by mastering the suturing techniques that you’ll need in the near future. Our suture e-book is an excellent guide to learn professionally at home in this perspective

Why do medical students need a suture practice Kit ?

Home Suture Practice

Regardless of an academic medical program and the number of hours students spend on learning, they still need to practice outside of the lab and classroom despite the intensity of a medical educational program and the number of sessions you will spend on learning.

Suture practice kit is the best option that let you practice at your own schedule and pace to learn suture techniques and skills because there are different types of stitches based on the nature of the wounds that you need to master each one

 Convenient and affordable

Medicure Suture practice kit is amazingly convenient and far less expensive as compare to alternative ways and materials because prior to suture practice kit, medical students used to practice on meat, banana peels and cloth which are nowhere near to as realistic and very expensive way to practice suturing and most importantly these alternatives are single-use

Furthermore our suture practice kit and silicone skin pad which replicate anatomical structure of human tissue is reusable for at least a dozen suture sessions. When you calculate cost per use you can realize that suture practice kit costs a fraction of what the alternatives cost

It’s also less expensive if you make a mistake, as you can simply start over. Without the stress of the cost of practice, you can really focus on perfecting your suture techniques.

Suture Practice Silicone Skin Pad

“The silicone pad is the crown jewel of the suture practice kit”. Our large suture pad skin with pre-cut wounds is professionally designed to replicate anatomical structure of human tissue including 3 layers, SKIN, FAT & MUSCLE to provide the best human tissue simulation,

The fabric mesh layer built-in between skin layer and fat layer makes it highly durable which ensures sutures don’t rip the skin, if a student makes deep wounds practicing with long lasting performance.

Additionally, our suture pad is made with best quality silicone composite material and passed through multiples lab tests to ensure that its texture is close to real skin with standard approved thickness that ensure sutures don’t rip or tear pad skin easily, if a student especially go for deep wound suturing. It is Ideal for teaching and practice with incisions of different depths and sizes; it’s a great way to demonstrate different kinds of incisions,

The Suture Practice Pad is intended for training demonstrational, educational purposed and Surgical Student dissecting training only. it is ideal for Physician Assistant, Nurses, Veterinarian and other Medical Student.

Suture PracticeTools or Instruments

Our suture practice kit contains all 6 tools that are necessary for suturing procedures. Our suturing instruments are manufactured from prime quality medical grade stainless steel which ensure high durability with real life surgical experience medical instruments used by surgeons and professionals

Unlikely, not for other suture practice kits that are available in the market with substandard and cheap quality suturing instruments specifically designed for students that are easily broken during practice session and started rusting after a few days because these substandard and cheap quality instruments have a very short useful life

We suggest you to inspect all instruments from the kit wherever you buy it to ensure none of them are bent, warped and malfunctioning. Even the Slightest change to a tool affects its precision, which could compromise stitch quality and your overall training

Here are the six tools you’ll have in our suture practice kit.

  1. Needle Driver,  Standard, Straight, 14.5cm
  2. Hemostat Mosquito Forceps Curved, 14.5cm
  3. Adson Forceps, 1x2 teeth , Straight, 12.5cm
  4. Adson Forceps, Standard Serrated Straight, 12.5cm
  5. Surgical Scissor, Iris, Straight , 11.5cm
  6. Scalpel Handle with Blades

Suture Thread with Needles

Suture threads, sometimes called filaments, are made of silk, nylon, polyester, or polypropylene that contain in our suture practice kit. These are all non-absorbable suture that are especially used for training purpose

Nylon: A natural monofilament Suture
Polypropylene (Prolene): A synthetic monofilament suture
Silk: A braided nature suture
Polyester (Ethibond): A braided synthetic suture

Silk Suture: Silk sutures are entwined thread from silk worm larva. Silk sutures are coated and braided non-absorbable sutures. These sutures are specially treated with silicone to give strength and smoothen the surface which provides easy passage through tissues. It is easier to use, more flexible and more resistant to damage during the suturing process with good knot security.

Nylon Suture: Nylon sutures are monofilament sutures and remarkably smooth, soft and gives excellent knot security. Nylon sutures are non-absorbable sutures and possess excellent tensile strength. These sutures are infection resistant. Nylon sutures are widely used for general closure, skin and plastic surgery
Polyester suture is a braided and coated suture (silicone) and is a non-absorbable suture composed of Polyethylene terephthalate fiber.

Polyester sutures have excellent tensile strength, soft and pliable with excellent braiding and are an excellent choice for cardiovascular and ophthalmic surgery. Polyester sutures are not subject to degradation and retain tensile strength indefinitely in vivo.
Polypropylene sutures are monofilament sutures of an isotactic crystalline stereoisomer of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin. Polypropylene sutures are non-absorbable and provide permanent wound support. Polypropylene sutures have excellent tensile strength and are used for orthopaedic, plastic and micro surgeries, general closure and cardiovascular surgeries. Polypropylene sutures are popularly known as prolene sutures. Polypropylene sutures elicit minimal tissue reaction and do not cause tissue rupture or support infection

Reverse-Cutting Needle: The third cutting edge is on the outer convex curvature of the needle (depth-seeking). ... Taper-point (round) needles penetrate and pass through tissues by stretching without cutting, far better and stronger than a conventional cutting needle. It is considered one of the best needles for training and practical experience to be master in suturing skills

Our suture practice kit contains the following size — 2/0, 3/0, and 4/0, 5/0 — though not all kits contain every size and types, As some wounds require different filaments or filament sizes, it’s important to learn how each one behaves during the stitching process; some are easier to manipulate than others.

Q. How should I clean and maintain my suture pad?
A. As suture pads are made of silicone, all you need to do is rinse it under water and allow it to air dry. If you’d like a deeper cleaning, add some gentle dish soap to your hands and rub the pad gently. Some consumers also use liquid makeup brush cleaner, as its formula is designed to clean silicone makeup tools.

Q. How can I prevent my suture pad from moving around while I practice?
A.
If your suture pad doesn’t have a nonslip botton, you can add the nonslip feature yourself. Affix self-stick gripping pads to the corners of the bottom. They’re usually 1” x 1” squares or circles. Another option is to affix a couple strips of rug grip on the bottom, which is a bit wider and could work better.

Q. How can I track my progress with stitches?
A.
Take a picture after you’ve completed a suture, and maintain a progress diary detailing your techniques, improvements, and areas for improvement. You could also set up your Smartphone to record a video during your suture practice. When you go back and watch yourself, you’ll be able to view your performance to check for correct technique. Using this method, you’ll often notice nuances in your suturing that you can’t catch from a still image.
